Blogger Reflections Award

Geoffrey has tagged me for the Blogger Reflections Award. This makes me very happy because it means several things, one of which is that I must have been blogging right. It also means I've got to keep working in order to maintain a certain standard, or improve on it. His blog and several others are a source of inspiration to me. Here is what the Blogger Reflections Award rules say: "This award should make an individual reflect upon five bloggers who have been an encouragement, a source of love, impacted you in some way, and who have provided a Godly example. In other words, five dear bloggers whom, when you reflect upon them, you are filled with a sense of pride and joy... of knowing them and being blessed by them.” Pity that re-tagging isn't permitted. Nevertheless, there are many favourites out there, and in fact the trouble is coming up with only five. I think I will go ahead at the end of this post and list three or four honourable mentions, blogs I would have liked to have included, but for the rules. The rules say that I need to

1. Copy this bit of the post.
2. Reflect on five bloggers and write a least a paragraph about each one.
3. Make sure you link this post so others can read it and the rules.
4. Leave your chosen bloggers a comment and let them know they’ve been given the award.
5. Place the award icon on your site.

  • Thabiso's Epea Pteroenta is about language, linguistics, literature, and film. Every time I come back from visiting Epea Pteroenta I have extra knowledge in my bag, or I know of a useful tool, or I'm smiling, or all of the above. Thabiso, whose given name is Jim (though I'll keep on using Thabiso as long as he lets me -- we chatted one day and talked about Sesotho names, he picked out this one for himself), stopped blogging for a good while and, happily, resumed the activity in May.
  • Annie's blog, Scenes from a slow-moving train, is like Annie: generous and a source of pleasure. The title defines the blog quite well, because it's about life. She talks, helps, teaches, writes, you name it. She's one of the people I have had the joy of meeting on the web, while I wait to meet her in person one day soon over food and discussion and a drink or two. And poetry reading.
  • Lori's Chatoyance is a recent discovery for me, but I keep going back for more. More anecdotes, sketching, snaps and poetry. It seems like she excels in everything the blurb of her blog's subheading mentions.
  • Chicken Scratches used to be called Twilight Spider. I'm not used to the new name yet, because a lot more was written under the old name. Today the blogger remains Twilight Spider, so that only the blog has changed names. Here you will find some of the most well-written short stories and poems. I sincerely hope that Twilight Spider will emerge from the present hiatus and resume blogging. If you decide to read just one thing (don't!) on this blog, let it be Morning.
  • Dana sublimates. She says sublimating is equal to writing. I keep going back to Sublimation for what specific reason, I don't know; but it surely has a lot to do with the tidbits I find there that always make me smile, the poetry with its palpable images and osé content, the suspense of it, I mean... the feeling I always get that I'm on the edge of something in Dana's art, something I can't place a finger on, but that is going to explode. Talent? Likely so.
  • Honourable mentions are many, too, but I'll stick to a few. Robin is a master blogger with delectable posts and a gift for poetry; Thami is a writer who needs to do just that: write, and give us a lot more of what he's got; Cathy is a painter and a poet with vivid and spicy images, and a unique way of saying the obvious; and Crafty Green Poet is a crafty poet who is concerned about the greenness (or lack of it) of our planet, creatively. You should visit her poetry ezine, Bolts of Silk.

Thank you, Rethabile, for your generous words! I know a few of the others, but I will definitely check out the blogs of those I don't (and do a blogger award post, as well.)

Waiting for husband to return home from errands so I can begin mine, and carved out a little Reflections post back -- although, fair warning, I did break most of the rules!

Thanks again, Rethabile! Your eye for poetry and your generous pen (or should I type "keyboard"?) are a treasure.
