Chris van Wyk's "In Detention"

He fell from the ninth floor
He hanged himself
He slipped on a piece of soap while washing
He hanged himself
He slipped on a piece of soap while washing
He fell from the ninth floor
He hanged himself while washing
He slipped from the ninth floor
He hung from the ninth floor
He slipped on the ninth floor while washing
He fell from a piece of soap while slipping
He hung from the ninth floor
He washed from the ninth floor while slipping
He hung from a piece of soap while washing.

Thank you, Jeanne, for bringing this poem to my attention. You may not remember doing so, but I do. Christmas is upon us, and I encourage you, reader, to visit Jeanne's food blog for the recipe of your life. Surprise someone you love this season with an osé meal. Aren't you tired of the same, old turkey? Here's one I'm dying to try, and may be eating for Christmas.

NB: In South Africa, a lot of political prisoners were tortured to death. The official cause of death was usually a variation of one of the verses in Mr van Wyk's poem.
