Life's work

Today, washing the dishes
the smell of dish-washing liquid,

the sound of distant conversation,
a grey warbler, the neighbour

putting in his vegetable garden;
our son hanging

his life's work
so far in the balance...

This is very nice. I love the smell of dish soap; a distinct memory. I had read that the olafactory is located right next to the area of the brain that stores memory; so that if you wanted to recall something that the best way to do so was to recall the smell.
